NAUGATUCK, CT — A new drink shop offering a wide variety of dirty sodas, handcrafted lemonades and more officially opened its doors in Naugatuck earlier this month.

"Naugatuck has a strong sense of community, and we wanted to be part of a downtown that's continuing to grow and would be welcoming of a new businesses," Mercado said in an email to Patch. In addition to dirty sodas, the store's fun and refreshing menu features handcrafted lemonades, honey-infused iced teas, cold brews, hydration drinks and kid-friendly favorites.

"Mercado and Sips is more than just a drink shop," Mercado said. "We specialize in customizable dirty sodas, handcrafted lemonades, iced teas and cold brews, but we also support other local businesses by offering locally baked goods from La Famiglia Tedesco [bakery] and handmade crafts from local vendors. We wanted to create a welcoming space where people can grab a refreshing drink, discover something new and support small businesses all in one stop."

According to Mercado, the store has already received a warm welcome from the Naugatuck community since its opening earlier this month.

"Customers have been excited to try dirty sodas, many for the first time, and we've loved seeing them come back to try new flavors," Mercado said. "The support from local residents, neighboring businesses and the community has exceeded our expectations."

Mercado recommends first-time customers try one of the store's signature dirty sodas, as it is their specialty.

Customers can choose from options like the OG Dirty Soda, which features Dr Pepper with lime juice, coconut cream and a splash of vanilla syrup, or The New Englander, a marshmallow fluff-lined cup with root beer, toasted marshmallow and vanilla syrup topped with cold foam, according to the menu.

Guests are also able to create their own dirty soda by choosing a base, then picking two syrups and adding cream and a final topping.

"Our handcrafted lemonades are also a customer favorite, especially on hot days," Mercado said. "If you're a coffee lover, our cold brews are a great option, and don't forget to pair your drink with one of our delicious, locally baked treats."

Mercado emphasized that his team would love for everyone to stop by the store and experience something new.

"Whether you're curious about dirty sodas, looking for a refreshing drink or simply want to support a local small business, there's something here for everyone," Mercado said. "We strive to make every customer feel welcome, and we can't wait to serve you."

He also noted they are incredibly thankful for the support the store has already received from the community.

"Opening Mercado and Sips has been a dream come true, and we're excited to continue growing with Naugatuck," Mercado said. "We look forward to introducing new seasonal drinks, hosting community events, collaborating with other local businesses and becoming a place where people can gather, connect and enjoy a great drink. We hope Mercado and Sips becomes a destination that the community is proud to call its own."
