School Dismisses Early, Animal Control Facility Evacuated In Naugatuck

A power outage sparked several brush fires in Naugatuck, officials said.

NAUGATUCK, CT — A power outage in Naugatuck has led to the early dismissal at Cross Street School Tuesday afternoon.

The Animal Control Facility was also evacuated after a downed wire energized a chain-link fence, causing several small brush fires.

All animals have been safely relocated and are being temporarily housed at a neighboring animal control facility, police said.

Animals moved to Oxford Animal Control with assistance from Bethany, Prospect, and Woodbridge animal control officers.

Eversource crews remain on the scene working to restore power and make repairs.

The power outages have been reported in the High, Cherry, and Cross streets and New Haven Road areas in Naugatuck.
