Shooting At Waterbury Event Venue Leads To 2 Arrests: Police
A woman was injured during the incident in May, police said.
WATERBURY, CT — Two people have been arrested following a shooting at a local event venue which seriously injured a woman in May, according to police.
Sgt. Joseph Morais said police received information May 31 that a shooting had happened at So Blu’Niq, at 920 Wolcott St., and a victim had admitted themselves to an area hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds.
Police interviewed the victim, a 27-year-old woman, at the hospital.

The woman sustained a gunshot wound to her abdomen and arm during the incident, according to police. She remains hospitalized in stable condition.
According to police, there was a disturbance at So Blu’Niq which “escalated to a firearm being discharged and the victim being struck by a projectile.”

Police said liquor and alcoholic beverages were illegally being sold without a permit or license at the time of the incident.
Police secured arrest warrants for two Waterbury residents.
Maurice Young, 29, was taken into custody June 3 and presented to court the following day on a $1.5 million bond. He is charged with first-degree assault (discharge of a firearm), criminal possession of a firearm, criminal possession of a pistol/revolver by a convicted felon, illegal discharge of a firearm, first-degree reckless endangerment, and carrying a pistol without a permit.
Maria Daley, 50, was taken into custody June 5 and charged with illegal sale of alcohol. She is due to be arraigned in court on June 10.
