Waterbury Police ID Man Found Dead In Apartment Monday

WATERBURY, CT — A man found dead on Sept. 21 in a Cherry Avenue apartment has been identified as a city resident, 58-year-old Troy Lester Grant, according to police.

Police released the victim’s name on Thursday.

Sgt. Joseph Morais said police were summoned to 13 Cherry Ave. at 8:22 a.m. Monday for a report of an unresponsive male.

Police found Grant lying on the floor and not breathing. He had sustained several serious injuries and emergency medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene, according to police.

Officers saw there had been a struggle inside the apartment.

Earlier this week, police arrested a city woman, 39-year-old Guadalupe Ojeda, and charged her with murder.

The Office of the Chief State Medical Examiner said Thursday the cause of Grant’s death is pending further study, and the manner is pending further investigation.
