New Canaan Town Council To Hold Public Hearing On Proposed Leaf Blower Ordinance During Upcoming Meeting

NEW CANAAN, CT — The New Canaan Town Council is scheduled to consider a number of items and hold a public hearing during its upcoming meeting scheduled for Wednesday evening.
According to a meeting agenda available on the town website, the council's regular hybrid meeting, which includes a public hearing, is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the Town Hall Meeting Room.
The council is scheduled to consider a request for a $500,000 special appropriation related to the Board of Education enrollment account.

According to the agenda, the funds "will be used for potential enrollment-related expenditures," and the source of funds is the General Fund.
The council is also scheduled to hold a public hearing on a proposed ordinance to the town code regarding the use of gas-powered leaf blowers.

According to materials provided in the agenda, the draft ordinance would "set specific controls on the use of gas-powered leaf blowers."

The council will also consider approval of PKF O'Connor Davies as the town's independent accounting firm, including for the annual audit for the year ending June 30, 2026, according to the agenda.
The agenda lists the base fee for the audit services as $117,950, with additional fees for services beyond the annual audit scope to be negotiated separately.
Other items listed on the agenda include an update on future campus improvement plans for the New Canaan Museum and Historical Society, as well as a general discussion of proposed Charter Revision Commission recommended changes to the town charter.
Members of the public are also welcome to speak to the council on agenda topics scheduled for review and/or vote during a public comment portion of the meeting.
