Annual Folks on Spokes &amp; Step Forward Ride + Walk event is planned for Sunday, October 4, 2026, from 8:00 am to 2 pm at Fowler Field in downtown Milford. 
As one of Connecticut’s longest running charitable events, cyclists and walkers come together to raise funds and awareness for mental health and addiction recovery in support of Bridges Healthcare’s services. Participants of all ages can enjoy the scenic Milford coastline by riding 5, 10, 20, or 40 mile routes or walking a 5K. This family-friendly event includes activities for kids, music, lunch, event t-shirts, and a special remembrance ceremony to honor lives lost to suicide and overdose.
Early registration discounts are available through August 31, 2026. From September 1-October 1, 2026 advanced registration fees are $50 per cyclist, $35 per walker, $15 for kids under 18. Children 6 and under are free.

Experience an afternoon of classical brilliance as pianist Arseniy Gusev discusses and performs Schubert Late Works. This special performance is free and open to the public, presented by the Connecticut State Music Teachers Association and the Branford Musical Arts Society with generous funding from The Daro Foundation."Pianist and composer Arseniy Gusev was born in St. Petersburg in 1998 and has been studying music since the age of five. In 2015, he went to the Boston University Tanglewood Institute. In 2017, he graduated with honors from the Specialized Music School of the St. Petersburg Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory, and afterward&nbsp;studied at the St. Petersburg Conservatory. In 2018, he moved to the US, in 2022, received his bachelor’s degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music, and in 2024, finished his master's program at the Yale School of Music as a composer. He now continues his studies at the Juilliard School as a pianist. Sergei Babayan, Keith Fitch, Chris Theofanidis, and David Lang are among his teachers. Gusev’s compositions present a colorful variety of styles and genres, some of which are solo, collaborative, symphonic, ballet, and opera.

He actively performs in the US and abroad, and has given solo concerts in Austria, Belgium, Italy, Slovakia, Russia, and Germany. His compositions are performed in Mariinsky Theater, Carnegie Hall, Konzerthaus Dortmund, St. Petersburg Philharmonic and other major venues. He collaborated with such conductors as Arkady Steinluht, Dmitry Vasiliev, Robert Carter Austin, Alexander Titov, Ilya Derbilov, Mikhail Golikov, and Mikhail Mosenkov, and performed together with such musicians as Jaime Laredo, Sharon Robinson, Olga Kaler, and Anthony Roth Costanzo. Arseniy participated in master classes of Garrick Ohlsson, Samuel Adler, Andrew Norman, Joan Tower, Dmitry Bashkirov, Grigory Gruzman, Jerome Rose, Alexander Mndoyants, Nina Lelchuk, and others.
Arseniy is a laureate of many prestigious competitions, such as the Dorothy McKenzie Artist Award, Cleveland Piano Virtu(al)oso Competition, Singapore International Piano Competition, Three Arts Piano Competition, Cleveland Composers Guild Contest, “Another Space” Composition Competition, International Gavrilin Competition, International Competition "Performer-Composer", and others. In 2025, he was awarded the prestigious Charles Ives Fellowship by American Academy of Arts and Letters.

Oktoberfest: A Fundraiser for Guilford VFW Post 7666

Document Shredding Event at Temple Beth Sholom Date: Sunday, October 18, 2026 Time: 9am-12pm Location: Temple Beth Sholom, 1809 Whitney Avenue, Hamden (in the parking lot) Cost: Small Copy Boxes - $15 per box Large Banker Boxes - $20 per box
Also Available: Hard Drive Destruction &amp; Computer Recycling - $20 each CRT Computer Monitors - $20 each Hard Drive Only - $10 each
All items should be in a box that can easily be picked up. Paper items only. No trash or non-paper items. No CDs, X-Rays, etc. On-site shredding truck provided by Affordable Solutions, LLC.

Common Questions: Will the documents be shredded at the drop-off location or are they transported to another facility? All documents will be shredded on-site. Workers will remove documents from vehicles and put them in the truck for shredding. 
Is there a certain way to prepare my documents? Place all paper documents into a box or paper bag for easy removal. Please look through the box/bag, before you bring it for shredding. Make sure the items in the box/bag are what you want shredded.
No Trash.
What happens to the shredded paper? The shredded documents are transported to a recycling facility and baled before being recycled into new paper.
