Fall is officially here in New Haven, and there’s no shortage of ways to make the most of it. From festivals and farmers markets to pumpkin patches, live music and other seasonal fun, October brings plenty of reasons to get out and enjoy what’s happening close to home.

Here are some events and activities happening in and around New Haven this October.

CitySeed Wooster Square Farmers Market

When: Saturdays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Where: 511 Chapel Street, New Haven

Spend a Saturday morning shopping local at the CitySeed Wooster Square Farmers Market, held outdoors from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. through Nov. 21, 2026, at 511 Chapel St. One of Connecticut’s largest urban farmers markets, it brings together regional vendors selling seasonal produce, baked goods, prepared foods, meats, cheeses and other locally produced goods.

Ghost Tour Of New Haven

When: Fridays & Saturdays, 7:30 p.m.
Where: 1070 Chapel Street, New Haven (meeting location)

Discover some of the city’s darker stories during the Ghost Tour of New Haven, a 90-minute walking tour offered Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30 p.m. Starting at 1070 Chapel St., the tour explores local legends, cemeteries and tales tied to New Haven and Yale, with tickets priced at $25 for adults and $20 for students, children, military members and seniors.

Garden Trick Or Treat

When: Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Where: Common Ground High School | 358 Springside Avenue, New Haven

Trade some of that Halloween candy for garden-grown treats during Garden Trick or Treat on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026. This free outdoor event invites children and their families to trick-or-treat through the garden, meet farm animals and enjoy kids’ activities, candy and a bake sale, with costumes encouraged.

Acoustic Alchemy

When: Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026, 7 p.m.
Where: Lyman Center | 501 Crescent Street, New Haven

Enjoy an evening of contemporary jazz when Acoustic Alchemy returns to the John Lyman Center for the Performing Arts in New Haven. The longtime group brings its signature mix of guitar-driven jazz, rock, funk and world music to the Lyman Center stage. Tickets are available to purchase online.

YSO Halloween Show

When: Saturday, Oct. 31, 2026, 11:30 p.m.
Where: Woolsey Hall | 500 College Street, New Haven

Celebrate Halloween with music and a New Haven tradition at the YSO Halloween Show at Woolsey Hall on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2026. Presented by the Yale Symphony Orchestra, the annual performance combines music and film for a late-night Halloween show, with tickets priced at $18 and going on sale Oct. 16.
