Lockdown At New London High School Lifted, Police Say

There was a report of student possibly with a weapon but police said they found "no credible threat."

NEW LONDON, CT — New London High School was locked down Tuesday after a report of a student "possibly in possession of a weapon," which was later deemed not a credible threat, according to police.

Police were alerted to the potential threat at the high school at 11:28 a.m.

Officers responded to secure the school and conduct an investigation.

Police found "there was no credible threat to students, staff, or the school community," according to a statement.

Normal school operations resumed at 12:24 p.m.

"The safety of our students and school staff is our highest priority," Police Chief Brian Wright said in a statement. "Our officers responded swiftly and worked diligently to investigate this report. We are grateful that this incident was resolved safely and that no threat was found."
