NEW MILFORD, CT — A pedestrian was struck and killed in a crash on Route 7 on Thursday evening, NBC CT reported. Police responded to the call in the area of New Milford High School at about 6:45 p.m.

Police arrived and found a man unconscious in the southbound lane. Crews were unable to resuscitate the victim, according to NBC CT.

The man was declared dead at the scene of the accident at 7:20 p.m.

Eyewitnesses said the victim was attempting to cross Danbury Road, a four-lane divided highway, from the northbound shoulder to the southbound shoulder, WFSB 3-TV reported.

The road was closed Thursday night between Larson Road and Candlewood Lake Road South.
