Monroe Man Accused Of DUI After Newtown Crash: Police

Police said officers investigated a minor crash on Main Street before arresting the 33-year-old on multiple charges.

NEWTOWN, CT — A Monroe man is facing drunken driving charges after police investigated a minor motor vehicle crash in Newtown, according to the Newtown Police Department.

Police said officers responded to the area of Main Street around 5:30 p.m. June 23 for a report of a minor crash. During the investigation, officers arrested a 33-year-old Monroe man.

The man was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol and following too closely resulting in an accident, police said.

Police said he was released after he posted a $1,000 non-surety bond. He is scheduled to appear July 7 in Danbury Superior Court.
