Newtown Reaches Deal On 120 Apartments, Sidewalk Funding: Report
The agreement reportedly includes a reduced apartment count and funding for sidewalk improvements.
NEWTOWN, CT — Newtown and a New York-based developer have reached a settlement allowing a proposed apartment development near Newtown High School to move forward following a lengthy legal dispute.
According to The News-Times, the agreement would allow Vessel Technologies to build 120 apartments with affordable units — down from the originally proposed 136 units — while also providing the town with $350,000 for sidewalk improvements.
Town officials and developers reportedly said the agreement was preferable to continuing litigation over the proposal, which had faced opposition from some residents and local officials.
