Newtown Selectmen to Review LOSAP Changes, 2026–27 Budget

Newtown selectmen will consider LOSAP changes, review the 2026–27 budget and revisit a waste management committee.

NEWTOWN, CT — The Newtown Board of Selectmen is set to consider changes to the town’s Length of Service Award Program and review the First Selectman’s proposed 2026–27 budget when it meets Tuesday night at Town Hall.

According to the agenda, the board may take action on an investment and benefit plan change for the LOSAP program, which provides retirement-style benefits to eligible volunteer emergency responders. The item is listed under new business for discussion and possible action.

The board is also scheduled to receive the 2026–27 First Selectman budget presentation, outlining spending priorities and assumptions for the coming fiscal year.

In other business, selectmen will revisit whether to reestablish a Waste Management Ad Hoc Committee, previously known as the Recycling Ad Hoc Committee.

The meeting will also include reports from First Selectman Bruce Walczak and the finance director, along with public comment periods at the beginning and end of the session.

The regular meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Jan. 20 in the Council Chamber at the Newtown Municipal Center, 3 Primrose St.
