October In Newtown: Fall Fun, Festivals & More

Fall is officially here in Newtown, and there’s no shortage of ways to make the most of it. From festivals and farmers markets to pumpkin patches, live music and other seasonal fun, October brings plenty of reasons to get out and enjoy what’s happening close to home.

Here are some events and activities happening in and around Newtown this October.

Newtown Farmer’s Market

When: Tuesdays throughout October, 2 to 5:30 p.m.
Where: Fairfield Hills | Keating Farms Avenue, Newtown

Stock up on local favorites at the Newtown Farmers Market, held Tuesdays from 2 to 5:30 p.m. at Fairfield Hills through Oct. 27, 2026. The food-focused market brings together local farmers, bakers and artisan producers selling vegetables, locally raised meats, eggs, breads, prepared foods, jams and more, with live music and a Kids Zone adding to the afternoon fun.

Castle Hill Farm

When: Saturdays & Sundays Oct. 3 through Nov. 1, 2026, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: 1 Sugar Lane, Newtown

Make a day of classic fall activities at Castle Hill Farm, where the seasonal festivities run Saturdays and Sundays from Oct. 3 through Nov. 1, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visitors can tackle the seven-acre corn maze, pick their own pumpkins, meet farm animals and enjoy apple cider donuts, with hayrides through the farm available as well.

Pumpkin Painting

When: Sunday, Oct. 11, 2026, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Where: Newtown Community Center | 8 Simpson Street, Newtown

Put a creative spin on pumpkin season during Newtown's family-friendly Pumpkin Painting event. Participants can choose a pumpkin from the patch and transform it with a favorite character or fall-inspired design; the pumpkin and painting supplies are included in the $12 member or $15 nonmember admission. Costumes are encouraged for an extra dose of Halloween fun.

Trunk Or Treat

When: Sunday, Oct. 25, 2026, 5 to 7 p.m.
Where: Newtown Community Center | 8 Simpson Street, Newtown

Dress up the kids and head to the Newtown Community Center and Senior Center parking lot for a free Trunk or Treat celebration. Families can stroll among decorated trunks, collect Halloween treats and enjoy a festive evening together, with attendees encouraged to bring a nonperishable food donation for Faith Food Pantry.

The Grand Slambovian Halloween Ball

When: Friday, Oct. 30, 2026, 7:30 p.m.
Where: Edmond Town Hall Theatre | 45 Main Street, Newtown, CT

Halloween gets a musical twist when the Slambovian Circus of Dreams brings The Grand Slambovian Halloween Ball — A Night at the Circus to Edmond Town Hall Theatre on Oct. 30, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. The live show gives Newtown residents a chance to kick off Halloween weekend with an evening of music in the heart of town. Tickets can be purchased online (prices vary).
