According to the Shoreline Chamber's announcement, during Esposito's "years of dedication to the volunteer fire service, he’s seen firsthand both the rewards and the challenges."
"The challenge in the fire department is continuing to encourage new members to join. We have a solid core of members who enjoy volunteering for the town," he said. "I hope that sentiment can continue going forward."

He said his inspiration began early.
"I had neighbors who were volunteer firefighters, and I would see them jump in their cars and take off when the siren went off," he recalled. "When they started the Junior Fire Department in Company 2 in 1975, I jumped at the opportunity. I didn’t know at that time how important the fire department would be in my life."
Through the department, he met his wife while serving as Captain of Company 4, "proof that service shaped not only his career but also his life."
Upon receiving the award, Esposito thanked his family.
"I would like to recognize my wife and children. Many family events were cut short by the fire pager going off," he said. "Additionally, late-night meetings and working on weekends all cut into family time.”
What’s next for Esposito? He'll "continue to work hard and make a difference in all aspects," he said.
He also offered advice for anyone looking to make an impact in Shoreline Chamber towns. His answer says it all.
"Just do it. If I had a nickel for every time someone has told me, ‘I don’t have the time to join the volunteer fire department,’ I’d be a rich man," he said. "Once you get involved, it becomes an extended family."
