Obituary: Georgia Salvati (Porto Funeral Homes)

Porto Funeral Homes (East Haven/West Haven)

Georgia Hronis Salvati, 88, of Wallingford, formerly of North Haven, passed away surrounded by the love of her family on July 25, 2026 at Masonicare Health Center leaving behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and unconditional love. Beloved mother of Rosemarie Zito of Wallingford and Lisa (Kevin) Yulo of Branford. Cherished grandmother of Nicholas Zito. Sister of Penny Baldelli of Ansonia, Peter (Linda) Hronis of SC, Gus Hronis of FL and the late Maria Rivera and Angelo and Dimitrios Hronis. Georgia was born in Greece on April 10, 1938 daughter of the late Panagiotis and Veneta Hronis. She dedicated 35 years of her career to the BIC Corporation, where she was a hardworking and loyal employee. Retirement, however, was not the end of her working life. Never one to sit still, Georgia found her second home at the Athena II Diner. She loved going to work each day, cherished her customers, and formed lasting friendships with so many. To countless families and children, she became known simply as "Giagia," a reflection of the love and comfort she brought to everyone she met. Above all else, Georgia's greatest joy and the love of her life was her grandson, Nicholas.

Her funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 830 Jones Hill Rd., West Haven TUESDAY morning, August 4, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. Funeral Liturgy will be held in St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church located at 480 Racebrook Rd., Orange at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
