Underpinning the sensationalism of battle reports &amp; broadsides is the often silent steadiness of women’s work with textiles. From the mythology of homespun to legends of midnight rides in red cloaks &amp; calashes, costumed historians share stories of the women who waged war on multiple fronts as well as a look at what they wore as their worlds turn’d upside down. This Semiquincentennial fashion &amp; fabric show includes reproduction clothing pieces &amp; cloth samples as well as a PowerPoint presentation with images of extant originals.
The Dirty Blue Shirts is an experiential history collective of living historians, scholars, and artists based from Eastern Connecticut. Its members worked together on the front lines of maritime museums. Now they bring customized, museum quality programming to historic sites throughout New England.

Kids just wanna have fun… and their parents do too! We encourage parents in our community to come together every Monday morning in the Children’s Department to play. While you’re here, enjoy getting to know other parents/caregivers and their little ones, and check out all that the library has to offer! There will be a quick story time about half way through the hour but the rest of the time is yours to enjoy and make new connections.

Tai Chi is a slow moving meditative exercise.&nbsp; You will be taught the Sun style which is the youngest form.&nbsp; It is very gentle on your joints, it increases strength and mobility, decreases stress and greatly improves balance.&nbsp; If necessary, it can be done seated.&nbsp; Every session will begin and end with warm up and cool down exercises. Each session builds upon the next.&nbsp; If you cannot attend all five sessions please do not register.&nbsp;No equipment required.&nbsp;
Reminder: Upon registration you are automatically registered for each session in this 5&nbsp;week series.&nbsp;

Kids just wanna have fun, but sometimes a big library can be overstimulating. We encourage parents in our community who have children on the autism spectrum or with sensory needs to come together every Monday in the Children’s Story Room for sensory play. While you’re here, enjoy getting to know other parents/caregivers and their little ones while playing and reading calmly.There will be a quick touch and feel story time about half way through the hour but the rest of the time is yours to enjoy and make new connections.
This program is funded by the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism through an Autism Community Impact Grant.
