James L. “Jim” “Sims” Seminovich, 90, of East Haven, beloved husband of 33 years to the love of his life, the late Doris Ann DelGrego Seminovich, passed away on April 20, 2026 as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Loving stepfather of Denise (Robert) Moore of West Haven and Michael S. (Shelley Block) Troiano of Wallingford. Step grandfather of Nicholas A. (Rachele) Sarro, Michael A. Sarro, Michael J. (Melissa) Troiano and Lyndsay Troiano. Step great-grandfather of Nico and Marcello Sarro. He was predeceased by two sisters and four brothers. Jim was born in New Haven on March 19, 1936 son of the late John and Theresa Kobanic Seminovich. He graduated from St. Mary High School in 1955 and was inducted into the Football Hall of Fame. He was a proud member of the Elks Club for 48 years. Jim was a devoted fisherman who also cherished cheering on the New York Yankees and the Chicago Bears. Prior to retiring, he was employed as a mechanic at the University of New Haven.
His funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte. 80), East Haven MONDAY morning, May 4, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Pier Giorgio Frassati Parish in St. Therese Church, North Haven at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
