Commercial Building Damaged By Fire, Smoke In Norwalk: FD

Fire officials said a commercial building was damaged by a fire that broke out in Norwalk.

NORWALK, CT — A commercial building in Norwalk was damaged by a fire that broke out late Tuesday afternoon, according to the Norwalk Fire Department.

In a news release, Assistant Chief Timothy Reardon said a commercial building fire was reported around 4 p.m. on Ely Avenue.

According to Reardon, the initial report was for an outside fire extending to a building.

When crews arrived, they found combustible debris in the back of the building on fire, which was extending to the building due to windy conditions, according to Reardon.

The blaze was extinguished in approximately 35 minutes, and fire damage was mostly limited to the outside of the building, Reardon said.

Smoke damage was also reported inside the building, according to Reardon.

Norwalk police and EMS were also called to the area during the fire, according to Reardon.

No injuries were reported, Reardon said.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Norwalk Fire Marshal Division, according to Reardon.
