Fire Breaks Out At Norwalk Home: FD

NORWALK, CT — A home was damaged by a fire that broke out Friday morning in Norwalk, according to the Norwalk Fire Department.

In a news release, Chief Edward McCabe said a residential structure fire was reported around 8 a.m. on Heron Road.

When crews arrived in the area, they found smoke and fire showing from the back and side of the 2.5-story wood-frame home, according to McCabe.

Crews quickly stretched a hose line to a second floor bedroom, McCabe said.

"The crew's aggressive fire attack confined the fire to the room of origin," McCabe said in a news release, "limiting damage to smoke and water throughout the remainder of the home."

When crews noticed vehicles were present in the driveway but no residents were outside the home, they immediately searched the building and found no occupants inside, McCabe said.

After the fire was extinguished, the structure was thoroughly ventilated and atmospheric monitoring was conducted to ensure it was safe for re-entry, according to McCabe.

No injuries were reported, McCabe said.

The homeowners were notified of the incident with the assistance of several concerned and helpful neighbors, according to McCabe.

The incident remains under investigation by the Norwalk Fire Marshal Division, McCabe said.
