Popular Seasonal Food Truck Reopens At Stew Leonard's In Norwalk

NORWALK, CT — As the weather continues to warm up this spring, a seasonal favorite recently made its return to Stew Leonard's in Norwalk.

The popular grocery chain's Burger Barn food truck reopened earlier this month outside the Norwalk store at 100 Westport Avenue.

Nicole Weiss, the Norwalk store's vice president, said in an email the Burger Barn is currently open Monday–Thursday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Friday–Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

"As the weather warms up, the truck will be open longer hours," Weiss said to Patch. "It stays open until the mid-fall, depending on the weather."

According to Weiss, the Burger Barn has been a fan-favorite at the Norwalk store for four years.

While the truck is a newer addition to the store, outdoor dining has long been a tradition at Stew Leonard's in Norwalk.

The store previously operated a seasonal outdoor "Hoedown Grill" that served the Norwalk community for over 20 years prior to the flagship store's recent two-year renovation project.

"When the Leonard family remodeled the store," Weiss said, "they decided to refresh the outdoor space with this fun, modern food truck setup that our customers absolutely love."

The idea behind the food truck was to take the classic "hoedown" nostalgia and giving it a fresh, trendy twist, according to Weiss.

"Food trucks have such a fun community energy, and we wanted to create a to-go style stand that felt like a backyard party," Weiss said. "It's the perfect way to offer our signature fresh food in a fast, casual atmosphere that fits right in with the farm-fresh vibe of the store."

The Burger Barn currently serves up a number of warm weather-friendly menu items such as hot dogs, grilled chicken sandwiches and smash-style cheeseburgers.

The food truck is also located just steps away from the store's famous soft serve ice cream for dessert.

According to Weiss, the Burger Barn in Norwalk is all about family and fun.

"There's nothing better than enjoying a fresh burger in the sunshine," Weiss said. "We wanted to give our shoppers a place to relax, kick back and enjoy a delicious meal together without the rush. It's a great way to turn a grocery trip into a family outing, plus everything tastes better when you eat it outside!"
