Reports That Crash Was Connected To Robbery Unfounded: Norwalk Police

Police responded to a crash.

NORWALK, CT — Police are investigating an accident in Norwalk.

At 2:21 p.m. police responded to the intersection of Winfield Street and Naples Avenue for a report of a motor vehicle accident.

"Initial information suggested the incident may have been related to a robbery that reportedly occurred in a nearby jurisdiction," police said. "Officers responded to the scene and conducted an investigation, which included speaking with the individuals involved in the accident, interviewing witnesses, and canvassing the surrounding area. Based on the investigation, officers determined that the initial reports of a robbery were unfounded, and no evidence was found to indicate that a robbery had occurred."

At no time was there a threat to public safety, police said.

"The Norwalk Police Department thanks the residents who contacted the department and provided information that assisted officers in clarifying the incident," police added.
