1 Injured During Weekend Shooting In Norwich Burger King Parking Lot: PD

NORWICH, CT — A man was shot Sunday evening in the parking lot of a Burger King on Salem Turnpike, according to police.

Sgt. Peter Karasuk said the victim suffered a single gunshot wound to a lower extremity, and the injury is not considered to be life-threatening.

Police learned of the shooting when medical personnel at William W. Backus Hospital notified them Sunday around 4:54 p.m. that they were treating a gunshot victim.

Investigators determined the shooting happened at the Burger King parking lot shortly before the victim arrived at the hospital.

Police said the shooting appears to have been a targeted one, and there is no known threat to the general public.

An investigation into the shooting is ongoing, and police are seeking help from the public.
