Popular Norwich Bar And Grill Closes Permanently

NORWICH, CT — Fat Cat Grill & Bar in Norwich is closing after 15 years in business.

"There has been some confusion as to when we are reopening and let it be known that we are not," the establishment posted on Facebook. "Thank you again for letting (us) cook for you and serve you all these years."

The owners had temporarily closed the restaurant in August and planned to do renovations, according to The Connecticut Scoop. However, the owners announced the closure Tuesday.

The previous owners operated the business from 2011 to 2022, when they sold the restaurant. Fat Cat was the descendant of the former Olympic Pizza across the street, owned by the Nousiopoulos family since 1968.

The post about Fat Cat's closure had garnered over 150 reactions and 70 comments as of Wednesday morning.

"Just moved to Norwich two years ago and love your restaurant!" one fan wrote. "I am a huge cat lover and you have delicious food! One of my new favorite spots and I will miss it!"

The restaurant served burgers, pizza, seafood, steak, Italian entrees and more. It was located at the Willow Tree Plaza at 381 W. Main St.
