Orange Firefighter Named 2026 Firefighter Of The Year

ORANGE, CT — Orange Firefighter Don Foyer has been named Orange’s 2026 Firefighter of the Year and will be honored at the Amity Chamber of Commerce Community Awards and Annual Meeting.

Foyer was chosen by the leadership of the Orange Volunteer Fire Association, according to the chamber. He will be recognized Sept. 17 at the Courtyard by Marriott, 136 Marsh Hill Road, in Orange.

Foyer has served the Orange community for more than five decades. He joined the Orange Volunteer Fire Association in October 1974.

Since 2009, Foyer has served as chairman of the Orange Volunteer Fire Department Carnival, the association’s primary fundraiser and largest source of revenue.

Orange Fire Chief Vaughan Dumas said Foyer has completed numerous training courses and earned certification as a Firefighter I and in forestry fire suppression.

“Since 1975, he has served as one of the department’s drivers, certified to operate every piece of apparatus in the fleet, and remains a reliable asset today, still ready to answer the call at any hour of the day or night,” Dumas said.

The Amity Chamber Community Awards and Annual Meeting will include a hot buffet breakfast and networking with officials, business leaders and community leaders from the region. Doors open at 8:30 a.m., and the program begins at 9 a.m.

Tickets will not be available at the door, according to the release.
