Goodwill: Person Who Accidentally Fired Gun In Oxford Store Was Not An Employee
State police say the weapon went off inside the Goodwill Store, and no injuries were reported.
OXFORD, CT — A gun was accidentally fired inside a store dressing room at Quarry Walk over the weekend, prompting a response from state police and a statement from the retailer involved.
The Connecticut State Police Oxford Resident Trooper’s Office said troopers responded March 1 to the Goodwill Store at Quarry Walk for a report of an accidental firearm discharge inside the business.
Police said the weapon went off after it was dropped inside a dressing room. No injuries were reported. The owner of the firearm is cooperating with investigators. State police declined to identify the person involved, and the incident remains under investigation.

In a statement to Patch, a Goodwill spokesperson confirmed the discharge occurred inside the Oxford store and said the organization is “grateful that no one was injured.” The spokesperson said employees immediately contacted law enforcement and followed established safety procedures.
When asked whether the individual involved was an employee or otherwise known to staff, Goodwill said it could not share specific information about the person but confirmed the individual was not an employee.

Goodwill also said there was minor property damage as a result of the discharge but did not provide specifics. The spokesperson emphasized that customer and employee safety remains the company’s top priority and that the organization is cooperating fully with authorities as the investigation continues.
