Oxford Police Warn Businesses After Fake Money Found

Police say two counterfeit $100 bills were recovered during an investigation at a Main Street business.

OXFORD, CT — Oxford police are warning local businesses to be on alert after counterfeit $100 bills were reported at a Main Street grocery store earlier this month.

According to the Oxford Police Department, officers are investigating a counterfeit currency incident reported by Market 32 at 140 Main St. The incident occurred Jan. 17 and was formally reported to police on Jan. 23, records show.

Police said two counterfeit $100 bills were recovered as evidence. The case remains active.

In a public alert, the Oxford Police Department urged businesses and residents to carefully inspect cash during transactions and to remain alert for suspicious activity.
