School Closed, Another Delayed, Officials Say

School officials said a boiler issue forced the Oxford elementary school to close as frigid temperatures continued.

OXFORD, CT — Oxford Public Schools said Quaker Farms School is closed Friday because of a boiler malfunction, an issue that comes amid frigid temperatures across Connecticut.

The information was posted to the district’s Facebook page around 9:30 a.m. Officials did not say if the boiler was expected to be fixed today.

In the same update, Great Oak Elementary School was listed as opening on a 90-minute delay, though no reason for the delay was specified.
