Reported Shooting Being Investigated As ‘Swatting’ Incident: Rocky Hill Police

Police said a person claimed to have shot members of his family and said that he intended to harm himself.

ROCKY HILL, CT — A reported shooting in Rocky Hill is being investigated as a “swatting” incident, according to police.

Police received a call around 7 a.m. on Monday from a person claiming to have shot members of his family and saying that he intended to harm himself, according to Lt. Joseph Smith.

“Officers immediately responded to the reported address and quickly confirmed that all members of the household were safe and unharmed,” Smith wrote in a news release. “The investigation determined that the call was not made by anyone residing at the residence.”

Smith said the incident appears to be a “swatting” call.

“The Rocky Hill Police Department is actively investigating the matter,” Smith wrote. “There is no known threat to the public.”
