Just after the new Board of Selectmen, on December 1, 2025, were sworn into office, “Do you solemnly swear that you will faithfully discharge, ACCORDING TO LAW, your duties as a member of the Board of Selectmen to the best of your abilities, so help you God,” did they convene a Board of Selectmen meeting to discuss ways to destroy the Constitution, with draconian rules of conduct with the approval of Town Attorney Bob Decrescenzo.

Deputy First Selectman Steve Antonio was the worst offender with ways to limit who what and when people can speak before the Board of Selectmen in Public Audience, defying the Rule of Law.

Deputy First Selectman Stev Antonio believes he can make policy that affects the public but the rules do not apply to him.

Steve Antonio has continually violated the zoning regulations with illegal signs and a land grab for his trailer park without any consequences.

It appears the Planning Department is in fear of imposing any restrictions on his violations having perceived consequences of retaliation with his ability to have them fired.

Another issue discussed at the December 1, 2025 meeting was First Selectman Wendy Mackstutis ignoring open government that she champions in public, by having Democrat members (a Caucus) of the Board of Selectmen meeting in undisclosed locations to discuss agenda items and resolutions prior to the meeting to resolve any issues.

The members of the Republican Party come to the meeting without any prior notice of the private discussion and votes that were taken, leaving them without an open discussion on resolutions of the public affairs of the Town that they were elected to implement.

This appears to be a Shadow Government without any restrictions on their conduct.

This is a blatant violation of open government.

At this meeting there was a vote by the Board of Selectmen to continue having legal services to the Town with Bob DeCrescenzo.

The lame reasoning behind this vote was the fact the Bob DeCrescezo is in the middle of developing the Charter and the Board felt there should be continuity.

This is totally preposterous since their will always be legal activity in the Town.

Most Attorneys are adept at reviewing the issues and continuing the services.

Bob Decrescenzo has served the Town for decades with ethical violations and opinions that violate the rule of law.

The Board of Selectmen failed to provide a much-needed change to our legal representation.

Culbro Corporation donated 17 acres of land to the Town of Simsbury.

On this land the International Skating Center of Connecticut (ISCC) was developed for Professional Figure Skating.

At the time the ISCC received a special exception on taxes with a reduced cost in lieu of taxes of $90,000 as an incentive to the first owners.

Over the years with the sale to various businesses, the fee to the Town remained $90,000.

Currently the owners of the building, BMW Sports, LLC, is a viable profitable business with a new renovation and expansion of the business while they continue to pay $90,000 in lieu of taxes.

They purchased property at 245 Hop meadow Street and land from River Bend to build a hotel.

The River Bend sale was $6,250,000.

According to town records BMW Sports, LLC should be paying $280,000 in taxes for the original ISCC building and more for the addition.

It appears this is a SWEETHEART deal that should be renegotiated.

Simsbury has become a casino for the high rollers, giving long-term abatements and reduced taxes to several businesses that should pay their fair share.

The tax burden increases with the ordinary people who can barely afford to live in Simsbury while the High Rollers get a pass.

All contracts with the Town should be reviewed and renegotiated to make a level playing field for all.

Budgets not only reflect expenditures but include revenues that are acquired by the Town to offset the increases in the budget.

The Town has a contract with Chris Latz to manage Eno Farms Poor Farm on Wolcott Street.

It appears that the contract that was reviewed by the Board of Selectmen, the Town Attorney and signed by the Town Manager, does not require Chris Latz to provide a financial statement for the Thrive Farm.

It appears that the Thrive Farm business is Thriving financially while the poor people are not receiving the benefits.

There should be a thorough review of this contract with financial accountability included.

The Referendum vote for an additional $388,000 should be rejected until the SPAC raises the short-falls, as promised, not the taxpayers.

Trailers can be reinstalled until the funds are raised by the SPAC, as promised.
