Disney Classic Coming To Simsbury Theater Group's Stage

SIMSBURY, CT — The Theatre Guild of Simsbury will bring Disney's"The Little Mermaid" to the Simsbury High School auditorium, 34 Farms Village Road, Simsbury, for six performances beginning Friday, Oct. 9.

The community theater production will feature a 41-person cast and music from the Disney musical, including "Under the Sea," "Poor Unfortunate Souls," "Kiss the Girl," and "Part of Your World."

  • Friday, Oct. 9: 7:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, Oct. 10: 7:30 p.m.
  • Sunday, Oct. 11: 2 p.m.
  • Saturday, Oct. 17: 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
  • Sunday, Oct. 18: 2 p.m.

The cast includes Colleen Gunning as Ariel, Saagar Sinha as Prince Eric, Ndidi Alimole as Sebastian, Dian Erikian as Ursula, and Patrick Spadaccino as King Triton.

The stage version, based on Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale and the Disney animated film, features music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater, and a book by Doug Wright.

The production also includes songs and scenes not featured in the animated movie.

"TGS is excited to be bringing the magic of The Little Mermaid to audiences, 10 years after our last Disney production in 2016," Theatre Guild of Simsbury President Diana Yeisley said. "This 'Under the Sea' classic is beloved by audiences young and old, and we are proud to introduce a new generation to the wonder and brilliance of Alan Menken's music and the story of The Little Mermaid."

Linda Dubuc Wilson is directing the production, with Jim Luurtsema serving as music director, Diana Lawler as assistant music director, and Lara Beckius as choreographer. Sara Cassidy and Becky Pardoe are producing the show, with Jess Powers serving as stage manager.

General admission tickets are $33.42, including fees, while tickets for students and seniors age 60 and older are $28.22. Tickets are available through the Theatre Guild of Simsbury's website.
