DONE: Major Road Project Finished In Simsbury
Funded with state dollars, the upgrade was completed a few days ahead of schedule last week.

SIMSBURY, CT — Simsbury officials have announced that Station Street has reopened to traffic following the completion of a long-planned conversion from a one-way to a two-way road.
In a statement, the Simsbury Public Works Department said April 30, “We are pleased to announce that our conversion of Station Street from a one-way to two-way street is complete. Station Street is now open to vehicular traffic, with new sidewalks on both sides of the road for pedestrian use.”
The project was initiated in response to requests from local businesses and was largely funded through a Small Town Economic Assistance Program (STEAP) grant from the State of Connecticut.

Town officials first outlined the plan in 2022, when the Simsbury Board of Selectmen authorized the pursuit of state funding.
A town summary at the time stated, “The project consists of converting Station Street from a one-way road to a two-way road with additional proposed on-street parking spaces, new sidewalks and associated appurtenances.”

Officials said the goal was to improve traffic flow and better serve nearby commercial areas.
“The purpose of this project is to provide more efficient vehicular traffic flow from Eno Memorial Hall parking lot and to better serve the retail buildings along Station Street and Railroad Street,” the summary said.
The state approved the STEAP grant in September 2022, with construction beginning this spring.
Work was completed last week, slightly ahead of the initial May 2026 timeline, and the town publicly announced the reopening on Thursday, April 30.
Public Works officials also thanked residents and businesses for their patience during construction.
