Primary Day In Simsbury, What You Need To Know

SIMSBURY, CT — Simsbury voters have until Friday, July 24, to enroll in a political party online or by mail if they want to participate in Connecticut's Aug. 11 primary election.

Town officials said only voters registered with a political party are eligible to vote in that party's primary.

This year's contested primaries include:

• Democratic gubernatorial primary: Gov. Ned Lamont, the endorsed incumbent, and challenger Josh Elliott.
• Republican primary for Connecticut's 5th Congressional District: Endorsed candidate Chris Shea and challenger Jonathan De Barros.

Voters may also enroll in a party in person until noon on the day before they vote, whether they plan to cast a ballot during the early voting period or on Primary Day.

Early voting

Early voting will take place Aug. 3-9 in the Main Meeting Room at Simsbury Town Hall, 933 Hopmeadow St.

Voting hours will be:

• 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily
• 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Aug. 4 and Aug. 6

Primary Day

Polling places will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 11.

Simsbury polling locations are:

• District 1: Henry James Memorial School, 155 Firetown Road
• District 2: Latimer Lane School, 33 Mountain View Drive, Weatogue
• District 3: Tootin' Hills School, 25 Nimrod Road, West Simsbury
• District 4: Tariffville School, 42 Winthrop St., Tariffville
