2 Southbury Residents Accused Of Assaulting 7 At Cape Cod Resort

SOUTHBURY, CT — Two Southbury residents were arrested after a fight at a popular Provincetown resort that authorities said involved assaults on seven people, including security staff and patrons.

Provincetown police records show Laurie Palladino, 54, and Michael Kroha, 60, both of Southbury, were arrested Saturday, Aug. 29, following an incident at the Boatslip Resort on Commercial Street.

The incident occurred during Tea Dance, a longstanding afternoon dance event. The resort describes Tea Dance as a nearly 50-year Provincetown tradition featuring a three-hour DJ set.

Palladino was charged with multiple counts of assault and battery, including charges involving people over age 60, along with trespassing and disorderly conduct, according to the arrest log. Kroha was charged with two counts of assault and battery, including one involving a person over age 60, and disorderly conduct.

The arrests followed an argument on the dance floor that became physical, according to the Provincetown Independent.

Four of the people assaulted were Boatslip security staff or owners, two were patrons who had been on the dance floor and another was a passerby who tried to break up the fight.

An officer who reviewed security footage reported seeing the man punch a security staff member in the nose with a closed fist and the woman punch and kick a female security officer, according to the Independent.

The two Southbury residents were arraigned Monday in Orleans District Court and pleaded not guilty.
