E-Bike Safety Topic Of Southington Police/Youth Services Event

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Young e-bike riders and their families can learn about Connecticut laws, safety equipment, and responsible riding practices during a free seminar in Southington this week.

Southington Youth Services and the Southington Police Department will host an E-Bike Safety & Compliance Seminar Thursday, Sept. 24, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at police headquarters, 69 Lazy Lane.

Southington police officers will provide instruction on Connecticut's e-bike laws and regulations, the different classifications of electric bicycles, helmet and safety equipment requirements, and rules of the road.

Officers will also discuss common safety concerns, proper equipment, and what riders should know before using e-bikes on roads and bike paths.

The program is intended to give young riders and parents an opportunity to ask questions about e-bike use and local requirements.

There is no charge to attend, but advance registration is required.

Separate registration forms are available for students and parents or guardians attending the seminar.

Children younger than 15 must be accompanied by an adult.
