Prominent Southington Business Gives Tour To State Leaders
The longtime, family operation was the first stop on a local state representative's initiative to visit Southington businesses this year.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A local lawmaker's plan to tour Southington businesses kicked off Wednesday with a visit to a local concrete supplier.
State Rep. Chris Poulos, D-Southington, was joined by Gov. Ned Lamont and Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicz on Wednesday on a tour of F & F Concrete, located at 110 Main St., Southington, to learn more about the company's operations.
F & F Concrete is a family-run operation that has been in business since 1953.

The purpose of the visit was to better understand the industry challenges and discuss ways the state can "support continued growth and long-term success for locally owned businesses," Poulos said in a statement.
This visit was the first stop on Poulos' tour of Southington businesses, which he said will continue through June.

Poulos is assistant majority leader, vice chair of the select committee on special education, and is a ranking member of the education, public safety, and veterans' affairs committees.
He represents the 81st House District in Southington.
"This was a wonderful opportunity to visit a locally owned business and hear directly from its president, Lauren Forgione," said Poulos. "F & F Concrete is a strong example of the hardworking, family-run businesses that drive our state economy. By listening to business owners on the ground, we can better shape policies that support job creation, strengthen our workforce, and help companies like this continue to grow right here in our community."
Lamont and Bysiewicz said visiting businesses can be beneficial to leaders.
"Visiting small businesses gives us an opportunity to speak with owners and employees about the economic climate and their plans for future growth," said Lamont. "I appreciate F & F for hosting us on this visit today."
"As chair of the Governor's Council on Women and Girls, I am always eager to meet women leading in non-traditional industries," said Bysiewicz. "Construction is a STEM field, and Lauren is undoubtedly a role model for girls and young women considering a future in this industry.
"It's great to learn how the state can continue supporting employers like F & F Concrete as they grow, create jobs, and strengthen our workforce."
