South Windsor Schools Shut Down For Tuesday As Storm Cleanup Continues

Classes are canceled in South Windsor while hazardous travel and flight disruptions persist into Tuesday.

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — A winter storm moving through the region has already led to school closures and major travel disruptions across north-central Connecticut.

South Windsor Public Schools announced there will be no school on Tuesday, Feb. 24. The update was shared by the South Windsor Fire Department, which urged residents to stay safe.

Preparedness And Local Operations

As snow continues to fall, public safety officials are urging residents to stay off the roads unless travel is necessary so plows and emergency crews can operate efficiently.

At Bradley International Airport, operations remain open, but significant disruptions are underway. The Connecticut Airport Authority said snow removal operations are ongoing and approximately 95 percent of Monday’s flights were proactively canceled. A small number of late-night arrivals could still operate.

Residual cancellations and delays are expected Tuesday, Feb. 24, as airlines work to restore normal operations across the region. Passengers scheduled to fly Tuesday are strongly advised to check directly with their airline before heading to the airport.

The airport authority said it expects to provide another operational update around 8 p.m.

Guidance For Residents

Officials are urging residents to use caution if they must travel, allow extra time, and maintain a safe distance from plow trucks. Clearing sidewalks and nearby fire hydrants can assist emergency responders.

Any downed wires or immediate hazards should be reported to 911. Non-emergency issues can be addressed once conditions improve.
