Man Facing Felony Threatening Charge After Axe Incident In Willington

WILLINGTON, CT — A 65-year-old Willington man was to appear in Rockville Superior Court Wednesday to face an armed felony threatening charge, judicial system records show.

Leonid Vinogradov, 65, is currently being held on a $75,000 bond for the Feb. 8 incident on Blair Road in Willington, according to judicial system records. He has been charged with first-degree threatening with a weapon, along with disorderly conduct, interfering with police and third-degree criminal mischief, records show.

An arrest report shows that, at 3:03 p.m. on Feb. 8, state police were called to the area for a disturbance. State police were told by residents that a downstairs neighbor — Vinogradov — had broken a door between two dwellings.

Vinogradov is accused of heading upstairs to yell at neighbors armed with an axe, according to an arrest report.

When troopers arrived, they set up a perimeter after Vinogradov became uncooperative, according to an arrest report. Troopers eventually had to deploy a Taser to subdue Vinogradov and he was taken to Johnson Memorial for "medical treatment," according to an arrest report.

He was later transported to Hartford Correctional Center, according to an arrest report.
