UNION, CT — A motorcycle rear-ended a sport utility vehicle on Interstate 84 in Union over the weekend, sending the rider to an area hospital via emergency helicopter, state police said.

The incident took place at 7:26 p.m. Saturday, state police said.

According to a crash report, a 53-year-old Sudbury, MA man was driving a 1997 Toyota 4Runner east on I-84 near Exit 73. A Suzuki motorcycle with a 25-year-old Southbridge, MA man aboard was in the right lane behind it, according to a crash report.

Suddenly, the motorcycle hit the Toyota from behind and wrecked, according to a crash report. The rider sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Bay State Hospital, according to a crash report.

The crash is still under investigation, state police said.
