WILLINGTON/TOLLAND, CT — A flying tractor-trailer tire damaged a much smaller vehicle on Interstate 84, state police said.

State police recently released a report on the April 16 incident.

At 8:45 p.m. that day, a 25-year-old Manchester woman was traveling on the westbound side of I-84 through Willington and Tolland in a 2013 Nissan Murano, according to a crash report.

A tire suddenly flew off its rim on a nearby tractor-trailer and slammed into the driver's side quarter panel of the Nissan, according to a crash report.

The driver of the Nissan escaped injury, but the truck continued on its way. There is no description of it in a crash report.
