Construction Road Closures Upcoming In Stamford: Details
Motorists are urged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and use caution around work zones.
STAMFORD, CT — Eversource is continuing its underground cable modernization project in Stamford, and several road closures are scheduled for Saturday to help facilitate the work.
Here are the scheduled road closures, according to the City of Stamford Emergency Communications Center. Motorists are urged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and use caution around all work zones.
Saturday, Aug. 29, 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Colonial Road closed between Pilgrim Walk and Mayflower Avenue
- Newfield Avenue closed between Grey Farms Road and Belltown Road
Both of these closures will support vault installation work.

Vine Road
- 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.: Work from Barmore Drive to Merriman Road
- 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Vine Road will be open to westbound traffic only from Merriman Road to High Ridge Road. Eastbound traffic will use Merriman Road.
Here are details on work planned for September
High Ridge Road
- Beginning Sept. 14, overnight trenching is scheduled to take place on High Ridge Road from Vine Road to Cedar Heights Road from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Motorists can expect overnight lane closures; none are expected during daytime hours.
- Newfield Avenue between Fairland Street and Grade A will be repaved in the coming weeks.
