Police ID Woman Struck By Car, Seriously Hurt In Stamford: PD

STAMFORD, CT — A 78-year-old woman was struck by a car and seriously injured in Stamford Friday morning, according to police.

Police initially asked for the public's help to identify the victim, as she did not have any ID on her at the time.

In an update Friday afternoon, police said the woman has been identified, but her name is being withheld.

The incident occurred in the area of Stillwater Avenue and Progress Drive at approximately 5:30 a.m.

Police say the woman was walking across Progress Drive when she was struck by a 2022 Ford Escape, which was driven by a 28-year-old Stamford resident. The driver stayed at the scene and spoke to responding officers.

The woman was taken to Stamford Hospital by EMS personnel, where it was determined she suffered life-threatening injuries, police said, noting she is currently in critical condition.
