Stamford Health Earns High Marks From Centers For Medicare And Medicaid Services

STAMFORD, CT — Stamford Health has announced that Stamford Hospital received a five-star overall hospital quality rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the highest rating awarded by the federal agency.

According to Stamford Health, Stamford Hospital was one of four hospitals in Connecticut and among 12 percent of hospitals nationwide to receive five stars in the latest CMS ratings update.

The CMS Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings evaluate hospitals across nearly 50 publicly reported quality measures grouped into five categories: mortality, readmission, safety, patient experience and timely and effective care.

"The CMS Star recognition program evaluates performance across numerous measures and care areas, making this a significant quality and safety achievement for our organization," said Rohit Bhalla, chief clinical and quality officer at Stamford Health, in an announcement. "Because the program assesses so many aspects of care, this recognition is a true testament to the daily dedication of our physicians and staff."

Stamford Health also highlighted several additional recognitions received by the hospital, including being ranked the top hospital in Fairfield County by U.S. News & World Report, recognition as a Castle Connolly Gold Standard Top Hospital for 2026, Magnet status for nursing excellence, an "A" grade from The Leapfrog Group, Planetree Gold certification for person-centered care and designation as a Certified Great Place to Work.
