Fire Chief Resigns As Part Of Settlement In Mystic: Report

The fire chief was put on paid administrative leave in May.

MYSTIC, CT — Mystic Fire Chief Christopher Clarkin has resigned, according to The Day of New London.

Clarkin, who also served as fire marshal, resigned July 14 as part of a settlement agreement with the Mystic Fire District.

He was put on paid administrative leave in May.

Clarkin became fire chief and fire marshal in 2024. He has said that he "strongly disagrees" with the reasons for the administrative leave.

The Mystic Fire District recently hired a new chief. Bradley Bernier was announced as the chief in a statement Wednesday.

Bernier had been acting chief since May. He will also serve as fire marshal.
