Road Closures Planned For Mystic Half Marathon, 10K Road Race

The race begins in Mystic Village and will travel through downtown before continuing north.

MYSTIC, CT — Road closures are planned Sunday morning for the Mystic Half Marathon and 10K Road Race, according to the Groton and Stonington police departments.

The race begins at 7 a.m. at Mystic Village and will travel through downtown Mystic before continuing north along River Road and through Old Mystic.

Police said roads along the route will close in sections and reopen once runners have passed safely. The downtown Mystic area is expected to clear by about 9 a.m.

The following roads are expected to be affected:

  • Coogan Boulevard from Maritime Drive to Jerry Browne Road: 7:55 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.
  • Coogan Boulevard from Greenmanville Road (Route 27) to Clara Drive: 7:55 a.m. to 8:10 a.m.
  • Greenmanville Road (Route 27) from Coogan Boulevard to Holmes Street, along with Bay Street and Holmes Street: 7:55 a.m. to 8:20 a.m.
  • Route 1 from Holmes Street to Pearl Street, and Pearl Street: 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.
  • Grove Street and River Road: 8:10 a.m. to 9:10 a.m.
  • Route 27 from River Road to Jerry Browne Road: 8:20 a.m. to 9:25 a.m. Police said alternating one-way traffic will be maintained in the southbound lane.
  • Jerry Browne Road from Route 27 to Coogan Boulevard: 8:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.

Drivers and pedestrians are urged to use caution, expect delays and consider alternate routes during the event.
