Water Main Cleaning To Affect Water Service In Stonington

Aquarion said that the routine maintenance will affect residents on several local streets.

STONINGTON, CT — Aquarion Water Company will conduct water main cleaning in parts of Stonington from May 18 through May 22 as part of routine system maintenance.

The work will take place daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and may temporarily affect water service for some customers. According to the company, residents in the affected areas could experience low water pressure, brief interruptions in service or discolored water while crews clean the mains.

Aquarion said discoloration can occur when naturally occurring minerals inside water pipes are disturbed during the cleaning process. Customers who notice discolored water are advised to run a cold-water faucet until the water clears before using it normally. The company also recommends delaying laundry until the discoloration is gone to avoid staining clothing.
