Shannon Cardoza, APRN, DNP, FNP-BC recognized for compassionate patient care, cancer survivorship leadership, and mentoring

The Greater Bridgeport Medical Association (GBMA) has selected Stratford resident Shannon Cardoza, APRN, DNP, FNP-BC, a nurse practitioner with Hartford HealthCare, as a recipient of its inaugural 2026 Future of Healthcare Award, recognizing healthcare professionals under the age of 40 who are making exceptional contributions to patient care and the future of healthcare.

Cardoza has distinguished herself through her compassionate, patient-centered approach and her unwavering commitment to improving the lives of individuals facing cancer. She is recognized not only for the exceptional care she provides to her own patients, but also for her willingness to support colleagues and ensure every patient receives the education, guidance, and compassionate care they deserve.

In addition to her clinical responsibilities, Cardoza serves as a mentor to nurses, medical assistants, and other members of the healthcare team. She is known for generously sharing her knowledge, fostering collaboration, and helping colleagues grow professionally. One of her most significant accomplishments has been leading a cancer survivorship program that provides education, resources, and ongoing support to patients after they complete treatment, improving continuity of care and enhancing quality of life for survivors and their families.
