Stratford Death Notices: July 22 Through Aug. 1, 2026

STRATFORD, CT — Below are recent death notices from Stratford.

Roy T. Thompson, 82, died July 22, 2026. He served as a Stratford police officer and detective after service as a U.S. Navy Seabee during the Vietnam War era, later operating a home improvement business and working for more than 20 years as a kitchen designer at Home Depot, and enjoyed woodworking and cabinetry, flying remote-controlled airplanes, ham radio and trips to Walt Disney World while participating in Stratford Baptist Church and the Stratford Veterans Museum.

Robin Irene (Johnson) Myers, 70, died July 22, 2026. She worked for many years as a hairdresser and in a medical laboratory, and enjoyed arts and crafts, Egyptian art, gardening, live concerts and rock and popular music including the Beatles, Ozzy Osbourne, Earth, Wind & Fire and Aerosmith, as well as traveling to Oahu, Palm Springs and Las Vegas, where she played video poker.

John F. “Jack” Guckert Sr., 97, died July 23, 2026. He played football at Stratford High School and Boston University on a full athletic scholarship before serving as a U.S. Marine Corps officer during the Korean War and attaining the rank of captain, later earning a master’s degree in education from Boston University and marrying his wife.

John “Cool” Joseph Lombard, 76, died July 25, 2026. He retired after 30 years as a housing code enforcement inspector for the City of Bridgeport following earlier work as a truck driver for Coca-Cola and Carrano’s Express, and was a talented carpenter who enjoyed Corvettes, reading the newspaper cover to cover and completing crossword puzzles in ink.

Freda B. Quintiliano, 88, died July 30, 2026. She retired as a supervisor with the State of Connecticut Department of Unemployment, and enjoyed traveling, especially to beach destinations, singing “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” with the Shelton Senior Center Choir, playing weekly bingo at the Devon VFW and visiting casinos.

Donald “Don” Jeffery Stump, 79, died July 31, 2026. He worked in media for CBS, Vitt Media, Gumpertz Bentley Fried, Telepictures and the Cabletelevision Advertising Bureau before becoming a real estate developer and contractor, and enjoyed sailing, golf, cooking, wine, woodworking, playing guitar, reading and storytelling while serving on the board of the Sea Lodge and participating in Pequot Yacht Club.

Nidia Maryann Garcia, 76, died Aug. 1, 2026. She retired after 15 years as a sales associate with Madison Jewelers, and enjoyed cooking, entertaining family and friends, traveling with her husband, and volunteering at St. James Parish.
