Budget Meeting Tonight

High School Auditorium Tonight: The Painful Reality of the 22.25 Mill Rate and Supplemental Bills 7/20/26 5:00pm

Neighbors,

Tonight—Monday, July 20th at 5:00 p.m.—the Board of Finance will hold a critical meeting in the Windsor Locks High School auditorium. If you care about your wallet and the future of our town, you need to be in that room.

This meeting follows Wednesday's record-level turnout, where voters packed the house to protest the painful cuts proposed by the Board of Finance. To a casual observer, it would seems the town is purposely putting forward the most painful cuts possible to force their budget through.

We need to understand what is truly at stake for the next referendum on Tuesday, July 28th (polls open 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.). This vote is not just about a highly contested 22.25 mill rate that is already hitting residents with an 18% to 20% increase on their primary tax bill.

Because of how this process has played out, the town is also planning to send out additional, separate supplemental tax bills.

These secondary bills are projected to cost households an extra $200 to $300 on top of your regular tax bill.

Don't let these decisions be finalized in an empty room. Please show up tonight at 5:00 p.m. at the high school, make your voice heard, and demand transparency.

-Cheers 🥂
