East Haddam Finance Board To Consider $15.98 Million Firehouse Funding Resolution

EAST HADDAM, CT — The East Haddam Board of Finance will consider a $15.975 million appropriation for the Company No. 2 Firehouse project Monday, along with several grants, a Fire Department capital transfer and proposed tax exemptions.

The board's Sept. 14 special meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Meeting Rooms 1 and 2 and will also be available through the town's YouTube channel.

The firehouse resolution would authorize an appropriation of $15.975 million for the Company No. 2 Firehouse project and allow the town to issue general obligation bonds and bond anticipation notes for up to that amount, or the amount necessary after grants are deducted.

Audit, Grants And Capital Transfer

The board is also scheduled to receive a review and presentation of the town's fiscal year 2025 audit from CliftonLarsonAllen LLP.

Several funding matters are listed for consideration. They include accepting an Early Voting Grant for 2026 and a fiscal year 2025 Emergency Management Performance Grant.

The board will also consider a capital transfer request for a Fire Department flatbed trailer.

Two proposed gifts are on the agenda: one from Dutch Oil for America 250 celebrations and another from Friends of the Rathbun/Riverview Cemetery.

Tax Exemptions And Relief

The board is scheduled to review an Agriculture recommendation concerning a proposed Farm Equipment and Farm Building Tax Exemption Ordinance.

Members will also discuss an ordinance concerning an exemption for ambulance-type and modified handicap-accessible vehicles, as well as the town's Tax Relief for Elderly & Disabled Ordinance.

The board will also receive the final report of the Black Birch Golf Course Feasibility Study Committee.

Other business includes approval of minutes from the April 7 public hearing and special meeting and the Aug. 3 special meeting, along with reports from the Board of Finance chairman, first selectman and finance director.
