Marianne Carpinella Olszyk, 70, of Haddam, formerly of Northford, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family after an extended illness at Middlesex Hospital. She was predeceased by the love of her life, her husband David A. Olszyk, with whom she is now joined in heaven. Loving mother of David Olszyk Jr. of Haddam and Nicole (Kevin) Grechika of Killingworth. Beloved grandmother of Samantha and Charlotte Grechika. Marianne is also survived by her sister-in-law, Carol Carpinella of Apopka, FL, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Charles Carpinella. Marianne was born in New Haven on March 21, 1955 daughter of the late Nicholas and Mary DβAmelio Carpinella. Marianne was a longtime Registered Nurse and Director of Nursing. She helped and touched many lives during her career in skilled nursing facilities. Her greatest love was her grandchildren who she enjoyed spending time with while watching The Lone Ranger. She was affectionately known as Grandma βWhat.β She loved the casino, watching football and the Yankees. She will be remembered for her sense of humor, her stubbornness and loyalty to those that she loved. The family of Marianne would like to thank the wonderful staff at Middlesex Hospital for the exceptional care that she received during her illness.
Family and friends are invited to a Parlor Service in the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte. 80), East Haven WEDNESDAY afternoon, February 11, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Family and friends may call WEDNESDAY morning from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
